Retro Road Trip: Sault Ste Marie’s Nostalgic Signs

The road to Wawa was closed last night, meaning we had an unexpected night in Sault Ste Marie.

And what a stoke of luck that was, otherwise I may never have had the time to discover this town’s plethora of old signs. Queen Street, the main drag, is a real blast from the past! I like to think of all the memories that are contained in these weathered letters.

Like many places, the downtown has suffered due to an influx of chain stores on the outskirts (my own hometown has this problem, too). But I’m tellin’ ya: central Sault Ste Marie has mega charm and sooo much potential!

The next time you’re in this neck of the woods, get thee off the highway and spend some bucks in this awesome downtown!
